How we help
Housing
Faith Lutheran Church has renovated an old vacant house to allow the building to be used as a home for refugee youth. This renovation was made possible primarily through donations of time and skills, materials for painting and furnishing the home, and donations of large furniture and appliances.
Food
Youth receive cash and Meijer gift cards on a weekly basis so they can purchase groceries of their own choosing. If you would like to contribute to this effort of feeding the people we serve, click on the donations button above
Mentoring
The youth are learning to live independently in the United States. Life here is often very different from life in their country of origin. A mentor can help them bridge these differences and walk with them on their journey in the United States. If you are interested in mentoring, please contact Laurie Hereza laurie.hereza@gmail.com
Tutoring
Helping students with school work. If you are interested in tutoring, please contact Laurie Hereza laurie.hereza@gmail.com
English Language Learning
Some of our residents arrive with little or no English language background. If you have any skills in teaching English or are fluent in other languages that could be helpful, please contact Laurie Hereza at laurie.hereza@gmail.com.
